PUBLIC AWARENESS
This committee promotes the activities of the Friends through this website, a newsletter, articles in the local newspaper, press releases, flyers, and posters.

Term:     One year. Additional terms may be held by an individual.

Overview:     The role of the Vice-President of Public Awareness is to coordinate the communication efforts of the Friends with the Library Staff in their support and advocacy for the Cambridge Community Library.

Duties:  

  • Work to identify volunteers who will assist with the publicity needs of the Friends.
  • Coordinate the publishing of the Friends newsletter (3-4 times a year).
  • Coordinate the publishing of the Friends email updates (6-8 times a year).
  • Oversee the Friends website to ensure it is kept up-to-date.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the editor of the Cambridge News and keep the newspaper informed of events sponsored by the Friends of the Libary.
  • Work with each fundraising and programming committee on the publicity needs for their project.  This could include newpaper articles, signs/posters/flyers, and correspondence.
  • Work as an advocate of the library to keep the community informed of the needs and issues of the library.

Volunteer Opportunties
You could contribute articles to the newspaper or newsletter, design a flyer for one of our events, help promote our events through press releases to the local media, or contribute to the content of our website.  New volunteers are welcome any time!
